reputation

(n) - A reputation is the opinion that people have about someone or something because of what has happened in the past.
  • Synonyms: fame, honor, influence, position, regard, character
  • Antonyms: disregard
  • Etymology: Late 14th Century Latin, from re- meaning "again" + putare meaning "to reckon, consider"
  • Morphology: repute, reputable
  • Example: Spiders, like the one Emma found in her yard, have a reputation for being scary killers...
