(n) - Standards are levels that are considered to be acceptable, or the levels that someone or something has achieved.

Synonyms: principles, benchmarks, ideals, models, examples
Etymology: Mid 12th-Century, probably from the Frankish word *standhard, which literally means "stand fast or firm," a compound word from standan meaning "to stand" + hardus meaning "hard." This word got its name because a flag was fixed to a pole or spear and stuck in the ground to stand firmly upright. The meaning for this word as "a rule, principal or means of judgment" comes from the 1560s.
Example: I have high standards when it comes to your learning and behaviors, otherwise you would not be in this class!

Payton says there are standers to grades in his house because he need a A to C or he will lose video games for a week and be grounded.

It is my goal for your kids to learn at least 180 impressive words this year, not just so that they will recognize and understand them, but so that they will use them.
