conserve

(v) – If you try to conserve something, you work to protect it and to prevent it from changing or being damaged.

Synonyms: go easy on, keep, maintain, save, preserve, take care of, use wisely, protect
Antonyms: destroy, neglect, squander, use, waste
Etymology: Late 14th Century Latin, from com- meaning “with” + servare meaning "keep watch, maintain"
Morphology: conservation, conservative
Example: I hope that when the time comes, you are able to conserve your Halloween candy. You just never know when you’re going to need a tasty treat!

I am a big fan of vocabulary! Why should words be dull when they can be dazzling?
