ratio

(n) - A ratio is a relationship between two amounts, represented by a pair of numbers (for example 2:1 or 2/1) showing how much bigger one amount is than the other.

Antonyms: whole
Etymology: 1630s Latin, from ratio meaning "reason," from rat- meaning "think"
Morphology: ration - v, n; rational - adj
Example: The ratio of teachers to students at our school is about 22:1.
